National
Parks of Thailand
From the
1995 Preface:
National
Parks of Thailand … is the most comprehensive book on this subject
to date. It is a useful guide to the natural wonders of these 77 protected
reserves. However, it does not present a picture postcard version of
what visitors will see and experience as does the bulk of current tourist
literature about Thailand. Thus we believe that ours is a pioneering
effort, and one which we hope others will pursue.
We
have attempted to explain some environmental issues and indicate serious
problems to the interested park visitor. We hope the more casual tourist
will also be moved to awareness and action by the drama being played
out within these parks between exquisite, age-old beauty and grave,
potentially terminal threats.
